Every pet parent knows that when the Chewy box lands on their doorstep, there’s going to be something fun inside.  

“We’re super passionate about making sure that customers are surprised and delighted by every interaction with us, so we really wanted to carry that through into our candidate journey,” said the Associate Director, TA, for the Fortune 500 e-commerce pet supply company.

For Chewy, it was important to engage candidates with a high-touch campaign that starts within the first 48 hours. “Quality candidates turn quickly, and we want the best,” said Chewy’s Associate Director, TA, adding that early outreach reduced time to fill by 45%.  

To achieve that reduction, the talent team combined three methods of communication – phone, text, and email – to use throughout the journey.

Before the pandemic, Chewy would treat candidates to lunch when they came into the office for an interview. When everything went virtual, connecting with candidates became a challenge. “It’s important to wow them with moments,” said Chewy’s Associate Director, TA. 

Now, Chewy sends candidates Uber Eats cards to buy themselves lunch on interview days. “It allows us to say, ‘Hey, you’ve got a lot to think about, so let us think about lunch.’”
