The workforce continues to evolve. We face a diminishing supply of job seekers, the make-up of our candidates is different, and business needs have shifted, meaning the jobs themselves are changing. The April Insights report provides a look into the latest labor market activity, with a special focus on healthcare, to help attract, engage, hire, and advance the talent you need now.
Employers are ready to hire, job openings are up 22% from the start of the year. Job seekers’ behavior is not fully aligned, with applications down 23%.
The application slowdown varies state to state. In Colorado, applications are down 4%, whereas New York employers are receiving 25% fewer applications this year.
Location still matters. There is a growing gap between out-of-state applicants and hires. Approximately 25% of all applications are from out-of-state applicants, while out-of-state hires are holding steady at around 8% over the last three years.
The healthcare industry faces a decreasing supply of workers amid surging demand. Applications for clinical occupations are down 12%, and openings are up 44%.
