Signature HealthCARE provides skilled nursing, rehabilitation and long-term care across 67 facilities and five U.S. states. To keep those teams staffed, the organization needs to fill about 6,000 roles each year – most of them frontline clinical positions, including CNAs, RNs and LPNs.
But its increasingly fragile, seven-vendor tech stack made it difficult to keep up with hiring demand. The stakes were particularly high for many of the rural communities Signature HealthCARE serves. The nearest care provider is sometimes more than an hour away. A slow, leaky hiring pipeline means unstaffed shifts and fewer people to care for residents.
Signature HealthCARE chose ICIMS to bring its hiring journey together in one platform, streamlining and automating recruiting from attraction through hire.
Results followed quickly. Nursing applications increased 52% in the first year after making the switch. Applications rose 47% and total hires increased by 17%. Today, Signature HealthCARE reaches more of the clinical professionals it needs and is seen as a desirable place to work.
“We went from ranking 4,500th as a skilled nursing employer on Glassdoor to 165th in under a year – that’s the impact of implementing ICIMS,” says the Senior VP of Talent Acquisition at Signature HealthCARE.
Before ICIMS, Signature HealthCARE relied on an ATS that wasn’t built for the volume or complexity of healthcare hiring. Candidate drop-off ran as high as 50%, recruiters and hiring managers had little visibility into candidate status, and moving candidates through the process required constant manual intervention.
Sourcing, social medial, scheduling and video interviewing were scattered across different vendors, with no way to search for or reengage past candidates and no unified reporting for leadership.
Signature HealthCARE evaluated multiple platforms as it looked for a replacement for its legacy ATS. Rather than adding another point solution to an already fragmented tech stack, the team wanted to bring the hiring journey together in one connected platform – from application through onboarding.
“We looked at Workday, Jobvite, and Greenhouse, but ICIMS was the only one that could bring our whole hiring process together in one platform,” says the Senior VP of Talent Acquisition at Signature HealthCARE. “A few of us had used it before and already knew what ICIMS could do.”
Recruiters once spent significant time moving candidates through stages, scheduling interviews, coordinating equipment and managing onboarding paperwork. With ICIMS, much of that work now happens behind the scenes.
“Automation has been a game changer,” says the Senior Director of Talent Acquisiton at Signature HealthCARE. “It’s so much easier to set up than the event notifications we had before, and it has helped recruiters with their clicks.”
The team also extended automation beyond traditional hiring. Signature HealthCARE built a dedicated portal to automate background checks and form submissions for an affiliated volunteer program. What once ran manually through email now happens in ICIMS, helping the organization double volunteer processing volume without adding staff.
For the first time, recruiter scorecards, KPIs and SLAs give Signature HealthCARE a clear view of talent acquisition performance. That visibility hasn’t just improved reporting – it has changed how the function is viewed across the business.
Once seen primarily as an administrative function, talent acquisition is now a partner that leadership consults and relies on.
We used to be the last-ranked department at the corporate level. We weren't partners, we were processors, told to approve an offer and move on. Now there's real growth and collaboration.
