Web Accessibility allows people with disabilities to access products and services on the internet. More specifically, web accessibility means people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with web pages. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) publishes the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and EN 301/549 is produced by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, and the Accessibility Joint Working Group of CEN/CENELEC/ETSI. iCIMS, Inc. (iCIMS) recognizes the importance of web accessibility and strives to ensure that iCIMS’ public-facing software solutions and features (the iCIMS “Subscription”) are capable of compliance with the WCAG 2.1 (A & AA) standard as outlined by the W3C, and EN 301/549 (where applicable).
iCIMS embraces the principle of “accessibility by design,” and as such all new iCIMS solutions at a minimum are developed to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. The information below is intended to explain iCIMS’ approach and commitment to accessibility.
Accessibility is an important component at iCIMS. iCIMS has a dedicated team of accessibility engineers responsible for:
*Shift left is an industry term regarding the practice of moving testing and quality evaluation early in the development process, often before any code is written.
Accessibility is built into the iCIMS development process with a combination of automated and manual testing for each new feature. We have a defined Accessibility Definition of Done with accessibility success criteria. To aid in our testing we leverage various industry-standard tools to check that all new iCIMS solutions meet iCIMS’ “Accessibility Definition of Done” prior to release.
Additionally, iCIMS regularly engages independent third parties to conduct external accessibility audits. These external audits are performed against a unified set of conformance criteria based on industry best practices, public compliance requirements, and internal standards.
External audits are conducted on an annual basis between July and November. These external audits are performed on iCIMS’ external (candidate-facing) experiences, based upon a standard set of configurations (e.g. non-branded, without customer configurations).
In the event that any non-conformities are detected during iCIMS’ external audits, iCIMS will make reasonable efforts to remediate identified non-conformities during the following March – June (the “Remediation Period”).
At this time, the features or experiences below are not included as part of our external audit, as these areas are generally configured by customers and outside of iCIMS’ direct control, or are not external (candidate-facing):

Historically, iCIMS has supported the JAWS screen reader (up to the 2020 version) used with Internet Explorer 11. Currently, iCIMS uses Chrome and Firefox with JAWS and NVDA screen readers during development and testing of all new products.
The candidate experience of the iCIMS Subscription is capable of being configured by our customers in a way that helps iCIMS’ customers meet their Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1972 and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act compliance needs. Because iCIMS’ software is highly configurable, there are several configurations (e.g. customer branding) that customers can make or select that can impact the accessibility of a customer’s instance of an iCIMS application or feature.
Due to the highly configurable nature of the iCIMS subscription, it is not uncommon for customer branding features and configurations to have a negative impact on overall accessibility. Customers must ensure that the content provided to iCIMS during implementation or configuration is fully accessible (e.g. ensuring that all images are provided with alt text; ensure that fonts are easily readable and color contrast is high; sites are laid out in an easily navigable and understandable structure using headings (H1 – H6) and paragraphs effectively).
In the event a customer detects an accessibility problem in a candidate-facing feature, or in the logged-in experience for recruiters, hiring managers, etc. in the iCIMS subscription, a ticket should be submitted to iCIMS Technical Support, at which time the request will be investigated and responded to in accordance with iCIMS’ Support & Maintenance Policy.
Any requests for changes to non-candidate-facing experiences may be rejected by iCIMS in its sole discretion.
