It shouldn’t come as a shock that everyone from children to adults spend a significant amount of their time on their phones. Phones aren’t just being used for social activities anymore, but are increasingly being used by millennials who are researching and applying to jobs directly on their mobile device. According to an iCIMS survey, “Recruitment Marketing: Fad or Future”, 70 percent of job seekers are researching companies and looking for jobs on their mobile device.
Making your website and application process mobile friendly is more important than ever. Yet almost half of the companies surveyed do not have a mobile application function installed in their applicant tracking system (ATS). Having a mobile friendly website and application could set you apart to win over your next new hire, and will minimize applicant drop off.
2. Showcase Your Company Culture
Job seekers are looking for a multitude of perks and benefits when job searching, such as compensation, stability, benefits, work-life balance, location, growth opportunities, a compelling company mission, and an attractive company culture. In fact, 53 percent of job seekers think company culture is ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ important. Potential employees want to be a part of a company cultivates a positive and friendly environment, and that has a mission or cause that resonates with them.
A great way to authentically showcase your culture is through videos. The content can range anywhere from showing your employees eating lunch together or doing community service, to a tour of the workspace. Millennials especially want to see if they will fit into an environment before they apply to be a part of your team. By showcasing the positive aspects your company has to offer and being transparent with your company culture, more applicants will come flooding in.
3. Utilize Social Media as a Recruiting Tool
Job seekers now visit a multitude of sites to form an opinion about your brand. 57 percent of job seekers said that they used social media at least once a month to learn more about potential employers. Millennials are going through various social media platforms to research your company, so take advantage of that. Build your social media profiles to showcase your company culture, share relevant news, recognize employees and company wins, and post job openings. Allowing candidates to apply from the convenience of their social media account will not only impress them, but same them time in the application process and provide them with a positive experience.
