The demand for talent continued through the end of 2021, despite seasonal slowdowns in hiring and the resurgence of COVID-19 cases. Talent shortages remain a challenge for employers but there are job seekers out there… if you know where to look.

Openings

Job openings leveled off a bit in Q4 2021 but remained high, up 86% over pre-pandemic levels. 

Applications

The gap between job openings and job applications widened at the close of 2021. Job applications are down 11% since January 2020. 

Hires

Hiring activity sharply declined in Q4 2021 but is still up 45% over pre-pandemic levels
