National Labor Exchange (FAQ Sheet)
JobCentral National Labor Exchange, provided by DirectEmployers Association in alliance with The National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) to increase labor market efficiency, offers companies, states and job seekers an affordable transition from America¡¦s Job Bank (AJB) which was discontinued July 1, 2007. JobCentral helps employers satisfy their compliance requirements and provides a single place on the Internet where job seekers can find employment opportunities in all industries.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts a labor shortage of more than 10 million skilled workers by 2010 which heightens employers¡¦ need to attract difficult to reach groups such as minorities, veterans, seniors and women to the workforce.
JobCentral plays a leading role in helping employers meet their individual affirmative action goals and, as a group, better manage our nation¡¦s workforce. It provides an opportunity for companies to meet their compliance and staffing requirements in an environment that is owned, managed and controlled by employers in a cooperative effort with State and Federal Workforce Agencies.
The JobCentral National Labor Exchange helps companies: 1) meet their respective Affirmative Action Program (AAP) objectives, Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCCP) obligations and Veterans hiring goals, 2) meet their general recruiting needs at the time of an impending national labor shortage and; 3) replace America's Job Bank (AJB) which was discontinued in July, 2007.
In addition to general recruiting for all occupations in all industries, the site also serves as the primary focal point for recruiting diverse candidates, returning members of the U.S. Armed Forces and specialty groups such as the physically challenged and senior members of the workforce. It also allows companies to work directly with government officials at all levels in responding to national emergency recruiting needs such as we experienced with the Katrina disaster in August 2005.

JobCentral National Labor Exchange is provided as a public service by leading U.S. employers in alliance with The National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) and participating states.
JobCentral uses an"indexing" process to identify links to jobs on corporate web sites. Job seekers who click on a job title on the search results page are taken directly to the job listing on the corporate web site. This is essentially the same process that is used by all high-level Internet search engines.
Indexed jobs are included in JobCentral and made available to participating state workforce agency career sites.
NOTE: Only federal contractor job listings (FCJL's) from DirectEmployers Association member companies and FCJL¡¦s entered as single postings are tracked and recorded for Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Jobs for Veterans Act compliance as required by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).
